![]() The SecureDNS network offers various security features, and it didn't slow down our browsing. Dragon is great for trying SecureDNS without altering your network settings. Dragon is Chrome's cousin it's based on the Chromium engine. Dragon automatically imported favorites, history, passwords, and other data we specified from our default browser (Chrome) including our bookmarks toolbar (thanks). We also like Dragon, which we updated shortly after installing it. It also includes lots of help options, such as the Geek Buddy feature and online forums and documentation. In daily use, Comodo Firewall is every bit as unobtrusive and easy to manage as the most popular free standalone firewalls for Windows, and just as flexible. A simple, colorful interface gave us quick access to the two main components, the Firewall and Defense+ features. Setup required a reboot, as did some settings, such as the Proactive Security Configuration. The firewall's system tray icon accesses a menu that let us configure the Firewall and Defense & Security levels, and also its Sandbox feature and Game Mode. Comodo Firewall's operation is very much like other firewalls we've tried: the first time you use a program or access a Web site with the firewall running, you need to enable it in a pop-up that remembers your choice unless you tell it otherwise. Extras include a Geek Buddy subscription, the SecureDNS network, and a speedy, secure Web browser, Comodo Dragon.Ĭomodo Firewall's setup includes three network locations, with appropriate security levels for each: Home, Work, and Public. It protects your system from viruses, Trojans, worms, hacker attacks, and other threats. Take Comodo Firewall: This full-featured, multilayer firewall application uses cloud-based data to analyze new programs and data to prevent attacks, including zero-day attacks. It does a good job, but there's no reason not to take advantage of much more capable (yet just as free) firewalls, especially when they're easier to use and come with significant extras. I promise. If you're running a fairly recent edition of Windows, you're probably also using the built-in Windows Firewall. Bestbuy and the Geek Squad will carry you. Priform you need to charge for CCleaner (I'm sorry people). I don't push it, i just write on receipt paper and pass it across the counter with a wink. It kicks Window Washer's ass, but guess what, Bestbuy sells the hell out of Window Washer. See the problem here? I love the software, don't get me wrong. It's dumb, no one has come out with a better (or just as good) temp and registry cleaner than CCleaner. All the while I have to sneak the handwritten note across the counter saying, or We are only allowed to use CCleaner for cleanings, that's it. Īs of now, there's only some weak agreement between Piriform and Bestbuy. BTW, this website does the best job MIO on how to clean a pc from viruses and spyware. But how do you tell a customer to use 5-10 different pieces of software to clean their computer. We loose money redoing cleanings that the customer causes. They keep downloading the same crap that keeps infecting their systems, over and over. I would love to "legally" tell our customers about CCleaner and filehippo. I work for the largest pc repair company in the US (Geek Squad) and use CCleaner every day. You also get access to the old versions too. Only the best of the best end up on filehippo. They are the premier download site for non-spyware software. ![]() I think Piriform should brag about filehippo. I mean why would filehippo allow CCleaner to be their main, bandwidth draining, download site? ![]() But even without this proof it has always been apparent that CCleaner and filehippo were related. Simply looking at their domain name records () they were all registered in 2005 by GoDaddy and all three are hosted on the same DNS server (). From my "quick" research filehippo, CCleaner, and piriform are all owned and operated by the same individuals.
